Self made people do not have to be isolated social islands and can have a safety net in place by offers of others and government. A consumer of mental health needs his own participation to recovery. If he keeps his nose clean he can be disabled but free of institutionalization. Striving for health with medicine and care in treatment that is least restrictive can still permit one to be his original basis of a person in his mind's eye. The case for self made can be true when we see others contributing to his life because he sought these supports and earned them. Accept mentoring and guidance to be and reach.
