Collating information, gathering intelligence, and synthesizing opinions and describing alternate ways of thinking is a definition of critical thinking. Having freedom means expressing thoughts that can be different from others and doing so free from harm or restriction. The point of diversity in the work place is only partly to provide opportunity to oppressed workers. Diversity is to count in different points of view and finding new solutions to challenges that the existing mindset might not ever notice as worthwhile or have the courage to do otherwise. A second opinion from a different doctor or taking another look within oneself can conjure up a new avenue of care and responsibility using diverse judgments. It's simply important to think critically and creatively from politics to medicine, from perceptions of ethnic stereotypes to standards of what is a nation. We must be free of the "same page", one-size-fits-all mentality that makes the Status Quo granite and changeless.
